Open to all Queensland Men's Shed members, this exciting competition invites you to showcase your musical talents for a chance to win fantastic prizes and launch your song at the upcoming Coolum Men’s Shed & Coolum-Peregian RSL Shed Music '25 Festival.
Maroochy Men’s Shed Songwriting Competition
Whether you're an experienced musician or an amateur songwriter, the Maroochy Men’s Shed Songwriting Competition is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. The competition opens on Monday, 17 February 2025 and closes on Monday, 30 June 2025, giving you plenty of time to craft your masterpiece.
With a $1750 prize pool, there are two grand prizes up for grabs. Both winners will have the unique opportunity to perform their winning song live at the Shed Music '25 Festival, a music-for-health initiative scheduled to take place later in the year (more details below).
The competition isn’t just about prizes - it’s about celebrating creativity and connecting with other Men’s Shed members who share your passion for music. It’s a fantastic chance to get your song out there and be part of something special.

Shed Music '25 Festival: A Celebration of Music and Health
Blues, Jazz, Rock and Folk
The Shed Music '25 festival, hosted by Coolum Men’s Shed in partnership with Coolum-Peregian RSL, is a Music for Health initiative that brings together musicians from Sheds across the Sunshine Coast and beyond. The festival will take place from Friday, 5th September to Sunday, 7th September 2025 at the Coolum-Peregian RSL.
This community event isn’t just about enjoying great music—it’s about celebrating health and wellbeing through the power of song. In addition to performances on a professional stage, the festival will feature informal “blackboard” jam sessions on Friday and Saturday nights, offering participants a chance to collaborate and enjoy music together in a relaxed setting. Audiences can expect to enjoy a fun festival atmosphere, quality food and beverage stalls and various marquees showcasing Men’s Sheds and other community groups.
Free health checks will also be available. The Sunshine Coast Hospital, in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Regional Council Health and the Australian Men’s Shed Association, will offer a comprehensive health check station, featuring heart foundation risk assessments and mental health counselling.
